We are John and Jacquelien, a couple in love with the Alberta prairies and the peacefulness of country living. Married for 33 years, we are proud parents of five wonderful children and grandparents to four beautiful grandchildren.
Prairie Rose Cottage began as a labor of love. After moving 1,200 kilometers from my parents in 2000, we wanted to create a cozy retreat for them during visits. In 2010, we found an unfinished building on Kijiji, and with John’s carpentry skills, transformed it into a welcoming guest cabin. My parents cherished many stays there until my mom’s leukemia diagnosis in 2019, after which they stayed in our home for more care.
Guest House Turns Cabin Rental
This prompted us to open our cabin to others, allowing guests to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of sunny Southern Alberta, where the prairies meet the Rocky Mountains. Our dream is to provide couples with a peaceful escape—a unique, romantic getaway where they can reconnect and create lasting memories.
We are incredibly grateful for the warm response our cabin rental has received from visitors worldwide. Although we lost my mom in November 2020, it brings us joy to see others appreciate “het kleine huisje” – the little house she loved so much. Thank you for considering Prairie Rose Cottage for your next getaway. We look forward to welcoming you!
